Regardless of whether the Democrats or Republicans win the 2008 Presidential election, it looks like we will definitely be welcoming a new First Dog to the white house next January.  The only question left to answer is, will it be McCain’s 4 dogs (an English Springer Spaniel named Sam, two Yorkshire Terriers named Lucy and Desi, and a mixed-breed named Coco) or the new dog that Obama has promised his daughters? 

In a vote held by the AKC, our fellow americans recommended a poodle for the Obama family.  The poodle won the pup-ular vote against four other non-shedding breeds (what, no Brussels Griffon??), which the AKC recommended due to a rumor that one of the Obama daughters has allergies.

Politics aside, we’re just happy that both candidates realize the value of having a canine in the family!
